Nordland Music Festival

Mattias Härenstam has been selected as this years festival artist for Nordland Music Festival (Nordland Musikfestuke) in Bodø, Norway. Härenstams festival exhibition at Bodø Fine Arts Society, Later that night includes the entire series of five hanging sculptures (Sketches for a reanimation), as well as a series of woodcuts and the film/video works Reconstruction, Closed Circuit and Prospect. At Bodø Consert Hall Stormen there is an additional presentation of the sculptures The forgotten one and My mistake.
   The exhibition opens Aug 4th and stays up until Aug 26th. There will be an artist at Stormen on Sun Aug 5th at 12.00. For more info see Musikkfestuka or Bodø Kunstforening.

 

20/20 Virserums Konsthall

On Sunday April 22nd an exhibition celebrating 20 years of Virserums Konsthall opens. 20 artists, who all have participated in various exhibitions in the space during these 20 years, have been selected. Among them Mattias Härenstam with the piece Desire.
  Härenstams Not a single sound (2012) was accquired by the Konsthall in 2013 and it is on permanent display in the reception area.
   Other participating artists include Susanna Arwin, Ulrika Berge, Lisa Fjellman, Paul Grähs, Jenny Grönvall, Bertil Hertzberg, Rabeaa Ibrahim, Richard Johansson, Åsa Jungnelius, Malin Lindmark Vrijman, Åse Marstrander, Eva Nordangård, Robert Nyberg, Lore Nynnell, Björn Olsson, Stina Opitz, Roland Persson, Riitta Vainionpää and Mathieu Vrijman. Stafett, Fotogalleriet Oslo

As part of the Photobook weeks there will be a presentation of Stafett at Fotogalleriet 09.02 - 15.02. Stafett is a project based on an artists collaboration between Danish artist Tomas Lagermand Lundme, Swedish artist JH Engström and Norwegian artist Nina Strand. On May 1st 2016, Lundme and Strand invited four other Nordic artists (Lene Ask, Mattias Härenstam, Emil Salto and Lina Selander) to participate in an artistic stafett. A shared mail thread from May 1st 2016, which officially ended on May 1st 2017, is the starting point of Stafett as a publication and an exhibition at Fotogalleriet. Hå Gamle Prestegård

Opening of the group show "Høytrykk" at Hå Gamle Prestegård on Sat Jan 27th. It includes work by 20 Norwegian artists working with wood- and linoprints. Mattias Härenstam is showing two prints; December (birches) and August (night). Other artists included are Andreas Siqueland, Anne Kampmann, Cathrine Dahl og Ørjan Aas, Eli Hovdenak, Elin Gabrielsen, Else Marie Haugland, Gunhild Vegge og Lasse Kolsrud, Gunnar Haugland, Idun Baltzersen, John Hoelstad Dæhli, Magne Furuholmen, Ola Jonsrud, Ola Steen, Patrick Huse, Ragna Grønstad, Ståle Blæsterdalen, Thomas Hestvold, Trine Lindheim, Yngve Zakarias and Åsmund Haukelidsæter.

Blinkvideo

Prospect by Mattias Härenstam is now featured on Blinkvideo. Blinkvideo is a professional website for research of video art, performance and multimedia installations. Anita Beckers and Julia Sökeland initiated the platform on the background of their own experience as curators and gallerists. The target audience consists primarily of art professionals such as curators (independent or associated with an institution / museum), collectors, journalists, gallery owners, art students, university professors, and related members of the art world.

CineArt presents Mattias Härenstam

A screening of some of Mattias Härenstams' film- and videowork at Cinemateket, Bergen on Dec. 5th at 20.00. Mattias will be present at the screening and give a short presentation of each work and partake in a Q&A at the end. The program contains the following works: Portrait of a Smiling Man (4.30 min), Rekonstruction (21.10 min) and Prospect (16 min). The event is collaboration between VISP and Cinemateket. 6th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art

Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) is included in a screening program of international video art at the Museum of Byzantine Culture, Thessaloniki. The screenings are in the frame of Thessaloniki Biennale 6: Imagined Homes and will take place 27.12 - 31.12 2017. The program is curated by Gioula Papadopoulou and Margarita Stavraki of Video Art Miden. More info here.

 

Lorck Schive Art Prize, Trondheim Art Museum

On Sunday 1 Oct at 13.00 the Lorck Schive award exihibiton opens at Trondheim Art Museum. The shows features new work by the four nominees: Knut Henrik Henriksen, Lars Laumann, Vibeke Tandberg and Mattias Härenstam. Härenstam is showing a brand new kinetic installation piece titled Limitation. The Lorck Schive Art Prize is the largest and most prestigious art prize in Norway awarded every second year. A winner will be selected among the exhibited works by an international jury later in October. The shows stays up until Jan 28 2018. More info at Trondheim Art Museum and Lorck Schive.  

 

Coast Contemporary

Mattias Härenstam will participate in the first edition of Coast Contemporary, an event taking place onboard Hurtigruten, travelling along the Norwegian coastline from The Lofoten Islands in the north to Bergen in the south 21 - 24 September 2017. The event showcases a selection of Norwegian artists and international art professionals curated by Helga-Marie Nordby. Other artists participating are Nils Bech, A K Dolven, Jan Freuchen, Silje Linge Haaland, Toril Johannessen, Joar Nango, Sille Storihle and Tori Wrånes. Coast Contemporary is founded by Tanja Sæter. 17th Seoul International Newmedia Festival

Farhad Kalantary and Seihee Shon has curated a special screening program of Norwegian videoart for the 17th edition of Seoul International Newmedia Festival. The program, titled Oslo Visions, includes Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) by Mattias Härenstam along with works by several Norwegian (or Norway-based) artists. Screenings Aug. 22nd and 23rd at The Seoul Cinema. More info at festival website.
