Video art platform Art:Screen has put together a screening program titled Trail and Error. The program, including Portrait of a smiling man by Mattias Härenstam, will be shown at Museo del Convento de Santo Domingo - Qorikancha, Cuzco, Peru 29 October - 2 November 2013 and at Sala Luis Miró Quesada Garland, Lima, Peru 5 - 7 November 2013. The Berlin-based gallery Art-Claims-Impulse Contemporary Fine Arts is now representing Mattias Härenstam and will present the large-scale wood sculpture In spite of it all at this years edition of Preview Art Fair. Preview takes place Sep 19 - Sep 22 at Opernwerkstätten Berlin (Zinnowitzer Strasse 9, 101 15 Berlin) and is part of Berlin Art Week. More info at Preview Berlin.
The Norwegian Sculpture Biennale opens on Sep 12th at the Vigeland Museum in Oslo. Mattias Härenstam will participate with three new sculptures, titled Sketches for a re-animation. The large-scale wood sculptures, however quite different, are in some ways developments of the sculptures I know you are there presented at Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo last year.
The biennale is curated by Helga-Marie Nordby and stays up until Nov 10th. More at the Biennale page and the Vigeland Museum.
Mattias Härenstams Portrait of a smiling man will be part of a screening program of Swedish video art at Coagula Curatorial in Los Angeles on Sep 1st. The program has been curated by video art platform art:screen and the screening is organized by Manipulated Image. More info at Manipulated Image.
Swedish video art platform art:screen has invited international curators to put together screening programs for Vetlanda Museum in Sweden. Mattias Härenstams Closed Circuit (In the middle of Sweden) is included in the program curated by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne. The screening program will be on show from Aug 24th until Sep 29th. Reconstruction has been nominated for the most prestigous Norwegian film prize, The Amanda Award, in the category of best Norwegian shortfilm 2012/2013. The award ceremony takes place in Haugesund on Aug 16th and is broadcast live on Norwegian television (TV2). More at the festival webpage.
A selection of films from this years edition of The Norwegian Short Film Festival, including Reconstruction, will be screened at Bomuldsfabrikken Kunsthall in Arendal, Norway, starting July 6th. The screening program, curated by Synne Bull, will be up until Sep 1st. More at Bomuldsfabrikken.
